Turning turtle

I didn’t get a chance to post these before I left for Tucumcari, but while we were passing through St. Louis on our way back from Illinois last week, Ron and I stopped to visit some old friends:

Turtle Playground is the work of the late Bob Cassilly, who was, is, and always will be one of my greatest heroes. It’s located off Oakland Avenue, just across I-64 from Forest Park. Pictures don’t really do it justice. You have to experience it to appreciate it.

I assume it goes without saying that I am now plotting to construct a giant turtle shaped-planter in my front yard this spring….
