July 27 Daybook

For today…

Outside my window… two puppies wandering around in the yard across the street.
I am thinking… I wish people took better care of their pets. We have too many strays in this neighborhood. Every animal deserves to be loved.
From the classroom… hopefully finishing the Scrabble board this morning and starting on the tiles.
I am thankful for… Ron.
From the kitchen… thinking about twice-baked potatoes.
I am wearing… jeans, Crocs, and my Blue Swallow T-shirt.
I am reading… my favorite passage from The Grapes of Wrath — the one about “the red lands and the gray lands and the bright and terrible desert.”
I am hoping… today is productive.
I am creating… a quiet space in my thought.
I am praying… to forgive myself for small mistakes once I’ve learned from them.
Around the house… a very busy kitten.
One of my favorite things… barbecue.
A few plans for the rest of the week… cruising Route 66 in my truck, putting together a freelance piece, preparing all the materials I need for the first week of school.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…

We met this pretty calico cat one afternoon in Albuquerque’s Old Town district.
