I’m a big fan of the Flylady Web site. The main thing I like about it is the timer. It is MUCH easier to deal with a disastrous mess when you’re working in 15-minute increments, with mandatory breaks in between … and at the moment, for reasons too numerous to go into right now, my house definitely falls into the category of “disastrous mess.”

Things I could do with my afternoon

Ron took my car to work because his car is too low-slung to get through deep snow, so unless I can coax Gretchen into starting on a cold afternoon (not likely), I’m stuck in the house. Here are some of the things I could do this afternoon:

1. Clean the chicks’ cage

It’s extremely strange to watch the snow fall and listen to the thunder at the same time. This is what we’re seeing today at the House of the Lifted Lorax:

Jason, Riggy and Song head out to help Ron with chores.

Footprints in the snow.

Grape hyacinths.

Our neighbor’s redbud blooms in the cold.

Chilly day for some of our chooks.

Others are luckier.

Riggy hasn’t had a lot of experience with snow.

Like everything else in Riggy’s world, it’s an excuse to jump around …

… and spend time with his best friend.

Ron and I went out to lunch a few minutes ago. We had some errands to run, but we cut them short because the snow was coming down too hard, making visibility a significant problem.

Hope you’re warm and safe on this Saturday afternoon.
