Little joy

I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday, but we have a new family member: My little brother’s daughter, Hazel Marie, arrived yesterday morning via C-section. She weighed in at 6 lbs., 8 oz., and reportedly started her day by wrapping her daddy around her little finger. I haven’t had a chance to talk to Oliver or Ashley yet, but early reports are that Hazel has dark, curly hair and is already good at sticking her tongue out and chewing on her fingers.

Pictures should be forthcoming today. I will certainly post one when I get it.

I have a faculty meeting and a full day of classes ahead of me, but I’m looking forward to spending part of this weekend shopping for baby presents so I can spoil her rotten as soon as I meet her (which will be during Thanksgiving break).

  1. Congrats on the new niece! I can’t wait to see pics, she sounds like a cutie-pie.

This is off topic, but I was just poking around your Route 66 Motels site and I noticed in your blurb for Claremore Motor Inn you mentioned the veterinarian next door. If you’re ever in Claremore with Scout and something goes wrong, I beg you not to take him to that vet for anything serious. I might trust that guy to patch up an owie, but for an illness I wouldn’t let him touch any of my animals ever again. I could tell you horror stories, both about my own experiences and those of others, but that would take up too much space. Any other vet in the Claremore phone book would be a better choice. Just so you know. Us doggie-mamas gotta look out for each other.

  2. Congrats, Auntie Em! 😉 We’ll both have 11/13/2008 to remember fondly. I also had a niece….great niece, that is…..born via c-section Thursday morning at 1am. And even more ironic, they both share the same middle name!
