So apparently the Internet problem wasn’t fixed after all. They’ve now switched our service to a different (apparently slower) router and are trying to figure out what’s wrong with the old one so they can fix it.
In the meantime, it’s been stormy, so I haven’t had the computer on much anyway. The good news in all this is that I have had a little time to sit and read and a lot of time to sleep, which I needed. I went to bed last night at 7:30 or something and slept until 8 o’clock this morning.
My goal for this evening is to get some desperately needed housecleaning done, process some tomatoes before they spoil (thanks to the rain and the birds, I don’t have any that are intact or pretty enough to give away, but most of them will be OK for canning if I cut the bad spots out) and clear out some more magazines so I can take them to the Reading Room tomorrow while we’re out running errands.
We’ll see how far I get with all of that. Film at 11….

UPDATE (12:34 a.m.)
So. Here’s all the stuff I accomplished this evening:
Had some hummus and pita bread and cucumber slices for dinner, put up three pints of tomatoes, fed the dogs, weeded the zinnias and daisies, put a bunch of business cards in my Rolodex, cleared some stuff off my desk, cleared the shelf above my desk, cleared the little rolling cart beside my desk, cleaned the kitchen counters and table, cleared off the end tables and coffee table, got a bunch of stuff ready to go out to the garage, folded a load of laundry, picked all my dirty clothes up off the bedroom floor, put away a bunch of shoes, read a magazine (one down, umpty-seven to go), swept the kitchen floor, spent 15 minutes culling expired and moth-eaten food out of my kitchen cabinets (can someone please explain to me how moth larvae get on the inside of a sealed plastic bag of grain without actually penetrating the plastic or breaching the seals?) and cleaned the bathroom. I think that’s all.
Now I think I’m going to make myself a bag of popcorn and sit down with a bottle of water and another magazine and take it easy. I’ve got five miles to run and about a million errands to take care of tomorrow. I’m thinking one of those errands might involve having lunch at Kinfolk’s Soul Food. Most of what they have on the menu is decidedly NOT vegetarian, but as far as I know, the sweet potatoes are jolly near vegan, and I could happily make an entire meal out of that and some cornbread. (Probably not a very nutritious meal, but what can you really expect from the girl who refers to Ho-Ho’s as “a complete food”?)
