We finished building the potting table on the deck this weekend. Songdog likes to use the deck as a launching pad. For some reason, as soon as I got out the camera, he started running laps around the yard and bouncing off of things like a pinball. I have no idea what that was about, but it was funny.
Jason did a little canine yoga on the deck while I was taking pictures of the new bench and table to send to the insurance company. Here he is demonstrating … um … the downward-facing dog position, I think.
We clipped the hens’ wings and put them in the rosebed this weekend to knock down some of the weeds. They didn’t like being picked up and handled so much, but they enjoyed having fresh grass to munch on. Honey, the brown leghorn (pictured in the center, just behind Pushy), somehow managed to escape the rosebed and wound up back in the main garden. She seemed relieved when Ron came and rescued her and returned her to the rosebed with the rest of the girls. She’s kind of a wild and crazy girl.
Check out how big my basil is getting. I just planted it about three weeks ago, and it’s already quadrupled in size (and then some!) and seems to be thriving.
I am almost finished with my crazy plant markers. I’ll post pictures when I get them done. I’m working on my house number mosaic, too. I have to apply the grout and paint the frame, and then it will be good to go. I didn’t have the nerve to mess with grout tonight. The plant markers need a coat of lacquer, and I have to get some more wire to bend into shape for stakes, but other than that, they’re basically done.
I also made some pasta today for lunch and fixed strawberries with real whipped cream for dessert. I may never bother with Cool Whip again. I had no idea whipped cream was so easy — and quick — to make.
Hope you had a good weekend.
