Little blessing

When I got home from church this evening, I pulled into the driveway and opened the car door to hear a loud CROAK! CROAK! sound.

At first, I thought there was just one frog, but as I let the dogs out and stepped out onto the deck, it became apparent that the sound was coming from all over: Near the pond, in the tree, somewhere next to the house, out in the garden, in a neighbor’s yard … just everywhere. There had to be at least five or six frogs hanging out in our neighborhood, calling to each other. They weren’t singing and trilling like the toads used to do in Belleville, but they were definitely having some sort of conversation.

Such little creatures, but they express — and evoke — such joy. I just love them.

What brought you joy today?
