Mercy!

The weather finally showed some mercy today. We got some rain last night and this morning, and the temperature dropped into the 80s for most of the day.

It was steamy again by evening, but at 2 p.m., when I walked outside to take a break and collect my thoughts, the temperature was maybe 85, and there was a gentle breeze. When things are crazy in the office, there’s nothing like spending 10 minutes sitting under a tree, thinking about something other than holes in stories, last-minute photo problems, unexpected ad changes, and annoying software quirks. That tiny break is enough to calm me down and get my thoughts back on track so I can get through whatever hassles pop up.

When the weather is nice, the break is just that much more effective, and today was just about perfect.

Hopefully tomorrow morning will be pleasant, too. We’re running eight miles, and I’d rather not run in the heat….
