Storms
August 7, 2006I couldn’t post last night because we had storms in the area that necessitated shutting down the computers. Too bad they didn’t bring much rain; the garden could have used it.
I thinned the tomatoes and doused them with that foul seaweed water tonight. I’m not optimistic, but we’ll see. The only ones that seem very healthy at this point are the volunteer plants that came up here and there, got no attention, no stakes, and no compost, and seem to be thriving on neglect and scorching heat. Typical….
At least my peppers seem to like the weather. They’re putting out plenty of fruit, though they look pretty droopy by the time they get through a day.
We’re going French intensive next year. I don’t care what it costs, how long it takes, or what other hobbies I have to shove aside to make time for it. I have had four years of pitiful harvests. I am not enduring another. I know what my garden can — and should — look like, and it hasn’t even been close in years. Enough!
