Tomatoes and daisies

Cherokee Purple

Here’s one of several shots I took this evening in my garden. The tomatoes are a variety called Cherokee Purple. I have several plants out there with little green tomatoes on them.

Daisies

No self-respecting hippie should be without daisies in the garden. :)

Stakes

And here’s a shot of the garden. The plants in the lower left are beans. The plants next to stakes are, obviously, tomatoes. And just in front of the tomatoes is a bed of garlic. We’ve snapped several scapes off the garlic already. It’s really thriving.

There were lots of other plants looking good out there, but I don’t want to photograph them until I’ve had time to do some weeding.

We’ll pick up a couple of flats of hot peppers tomorrow and plant them. Peppers and tomatoes are my two favorite crops. Last year was a lousy year for tomatoes, but my hot pepper crop was fantastic — big, gorgeous plants with tons and tons of peppers all over them. I raised nine different varieties. I’ll probaby have even more than that this year. I’m planning to go heavy on the cayenne, though. I want to brew my own Louisiana-style hot sauce.
